Shrine Bowl Weekend, July 26th

Needless to say this weekend should have been blogged several days ago, but somehow in the excess of time that I have, I didn't have time to blog it. So here it is now.
Every summer the Shriners of Kansas get together for their big fund rising event of the year. The pick recommended football players from the eastern and western part of the state to play in a football game against each other. The players are suppose to be good players on the field and good students off the field. They are only admitted to play if recommended by their coaches and teachers. Several coaches are picked from each side of the state to coach the respected teams, they get together for a week and then have the game at the end of the week. The game has been hosted at several colleges throughout the state and this year was hosted in Emporia! Yeah! What is a football game without a rocking halftime show by a marching band? You answered it, completely boring. Just as football players are recommended throughout the state so are band member. Our little bro. has been recommended for 2 years in a row and we are so proud of him. GO COREY! Since the game was in Emporia is year we were able to fully represent. Loads of the fam. was able to come down for the day and enjoy the sites of Emporia, but mostly our cold flat (this summer has been so hot, and since we don't have to pay for AC we keep the temp pretty low, wouldn't you?). Here are some pics so you can get the images in your head.

Alina was getting ready to go swimming in the wading pool at Peter Pan Park. She loved trying on mine and Codi's lais that came to her knees.

Here she is getting down and dirty in the water, with her papa, Nick. Love the dip. sticking out. Classic!

Maryann is Kaylee aunt from Emily's side of the family, she got to spend the weekend with us too! Lucky her! Codi and I went to the Jones Aquatics Center with her earlier that day and turned her into a lobster. When we left the Aquatics Center she didn't look too bad but sitting next to Kaylee she looks like a red color crayon. I must say she deserves it though, for all the trouble she put me through on the lazy river. I won't ever forget Maryann! It is hard to forget water jets spraying you in the face! I do have to say though that I think Maryann is the perfect aunt, all she wanted to do was be with Kaylee and do whatever Kaylee was doing. Although I have it on good authority that during her visit to Kansas Maryann has a hidden agenda.

For you Crystal. Kaylee and Crystal cuddling up after Kaylee was done with her swim.

Another one of Crystal with her niece, this time with Alina. We were at the stadium waiting for kickoff. For what ever reason Alina was just chilling with Crystal and did so for quite awhile. Well done Cra-Nasty, well done!

This is a pic. of the band on the field. Corey, our bro. is the 5th one in from the left. There had to be a short intermission because of a thunder and lighting storm that came through. But finally the band was able to do their half-time show. My friend Annie is also in the pic, the first one on the right.

Lastly, Kaylee trying to get Codi to shut her Giant YAPPER!
