Kaufman Stadium

Also know as the home of the Kansas City Royals! All the fourth graders in our school got to go on a field trip to Kaufman Stadium on the 26th. In all of my years of elementary and secondary school field trips, this is hands down the best one I have EVER been on. We took a tour of the stadium, then had our lunch and then got to participate in the R.S.V.P (Royal's Scholastic Victory Program). It is a program put on by staff member where the students do activities with muscles groups, distance, and velocity. IT. Was. Awesome! Here is some footage!

Me in the dugout, do I look happy? I was so stoked!

These are the only three phones allowed in the dugout. Players are not allowed to have their personal phones in the dugout. If they need to make a personal phone call they have to use the 1st phone on the wall. The second phone only calls to the press box and the third phone calls to the bullpen. I made a few calls to the bullpen to have them call in Soria. Oddly enough, he never came....

Dugout view of the field, they were working on the field the day we were there. One of our tour guides said they work on the field 365 days a year. On our tour they said that the field used to be turf, but in 1995 they put in real grass. The grass is a type of grass from Colorado, the type of grass and the how the field lays helps drain the field when there has been heavy rain.

One of the activities the kids did. They rolled a bouncy ball down the ramp out in center field, it hit the bat and then the students could see where the ball would go depending on the angle of the bat. Super Cool!

This sign is actually on the ceiling of the Royal's Hall of Fame, which is where we had our lunch and our classes.


All of the kids had an awesome time, even the ones who knew nothing about baseball and how bad of record the Royal's have. Only two things could have made it better; 1. getting to run the bases 2. Having one of the players, or Slugger, come meet the kids.
